2013 Presentation Evening a great success
Liphook in Bloom’s annual Presentation Evening was held at the Millennium Hall on October 15th to a packed house, at one point there was standing room only.
Terry Burns presents Paige Anderson with her award for Best Planted Garden in a Container on behalf of Andy House Body Shop Repairs and Anchor Garage
As well as presenting the numerous winners and runners-up with their prizes and certificates for their success in our Competition Week, the main theme of the evening was “The Whole is Greater Than the Sum of its Part” to illustrate that as a team we achieve so much through the diversity of skills which each member brings. The evening also carried a key message that if Liphook in Bloom is to achieve another 17 years of success then we really need some new blood in the team, no matter how little time an individual wants to commit. Phil Jordan also emphasised that not all of our work is pure “gardening” as we have many other activities from administrative to heavy manual work which need supporting.
As a new item for the evening we were treated to 2 songs sung by around 25 children from Liphook Infant School; a real highlight of the evening. Our sincere thanks go to them for entertaining us so well.
Coincidentally, Liphook Infant School were also presented with their prize and certificate for Best School Grounds which was sponsored by, and presented by Brian and Jenny Goodwin.
The prestigious “Best of the Best Award” which is given to one of the 8 main category winners was judged by Councillor and Mrs Ferris Cowper. This was won by Liphook Bowls Club for their magnificent home grown “pink” display in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.
