Jan Roles gets the 2015 Chairman’s Award
It was with great pleasure that Irene Ellis (Chairman) presented long time member Jan Roles with this years Chairman’s Award.
She began by helping in the beds and doing a bit of paperwork which increased to a lot more than “a bit” as the years went on. The Team and all her helpers always get a lovely chatty email from her reminding us of the next work day.
She occasionally takes over as photographer when the team photographer is not around and when videoing became easier with smaller cameras many years ago, and you could edit them on your computer, Jan learnt how to do this and has been making wonderful films for us every year as a record of the work Liphook in Bloom has done during the year.
Jan is one of a handful of “pillars” in Liphook who selflessly give up so much time to help many voluntary organisations around the village. She has been on the Carnival Committee, is a co-ordinator for Voluntary Care, helped set up a carers group and was a founder member of the U3A computer group.
Sadly for Liphook in Bloom she is having to close down the computer to just personal use and hang up her trowel and fork but we look forward to her happy face and temperament at all future social events.
